Waves are precise, controllable, and non-invasive probes. As they travel through targets, they encode structure and properties in amplitude, phase, and traveltime. We generate and record these wavefields and turn subtle signatures into quantitative physical parameters.
We are the WaveLens Lab at the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. We develop cross-scale full-waveform modeling and inversion—from seismic exploration to acoustic logging and ultrasound imaging. Our solvers mainly combine finite-difference and spectral-element wavefield extrapolation with algorithms optimized for modern HPC systems. Methodologically, we tackle the hardest parts of inversion: escaping local minima in velocity reconstruction, suppressing parameter cross-talk in multi-parameter settings, and performing rigorous uncertainty quantification of recovered models.
